"The economic power of Latinos can lead not just a recovery, but an economic renaissance," says the CEO of California's Latino Community Foundation.
That's why the foundation is awarding $1 million in grants to 17 Latino-led organizations across the state, the Mercury News reports.
According to the foundation, the funds will be used to support business incubators that provide support to Latino entrepreneurs.
"Latino-owned businesses in California generate nearly $120 billion in revenue, thus constituting the backbone of the region's economy," saysJacqueline Mart ? 'nez Garcel.
"It is essential that we increase opportunities for economic mobility for Latinos as we rebuild a new normal post-COVID 19."
The grants were announced as part of Hispanic Heritage Month.
